A beautiful lawn needs regular mowing, especially in spring and summer. But which lawn mower should you choose: electric, cordless battery, petrol or ride-on? It all depends on the area, the terrain and your comfort. Here is the Brico MIM guide.

The 4 types of lawn mower
The corded electric lawn mower
Light, economical and with no engine maintenance. Its only drawback: the cable, which limits the range and requires care.
The cordless battery lawn mower
Freedom without the noise or the petrol. Gardena mowers use 18V P4A (Power for All) batteries, compatible with the other Gardena tools in the range: one battery for the mower, the hedge trimmer and the grass trimmer. Read our article on cordless garden tools.
The petrol lawn mower
Powerful and independent, with no range limit: ideal for large gardens and thick grass. Self-propelled models move forward on their own, a real comfort on sloping ground. The Italian brand Efco offers sturdy models, right up to professional versions.
The ride-on lawn mower
For very large areas: you mow sitting down, much faster. Intended for estates, hotels, golf courses and large properties.
Grass trimmers and brush cutters: the essential extras
- Grass trimmer: for finishing along walls and borders and around trees, where the mower can't reach. Examples: SmallCut 300/23 (electric), SmallCut 25/18V, ComfortCut 23/18V and PowerTrim 30/18V.
- Brush cutter: for tall grass, brambles and overgrown land. Examples: Efco DSH 5000 T and Efco 8460 professional.
Mowing tips suited to the Moroccan climate
The golden rule: never cut more than a third of the grass height in a single mow.
- In summer, mow higher: slightly longer grass shades the soil, retains moisture and copes better with the heat.
- Mow early in the morning or late in the day, never in the full heat.
- Keep the blade sharp: a blunt blade tears the grass, which then turns yellow.
- Water after mowing, preferably in the morning. See our garden watering guide.
Frequently asked questions
Battery or petrol lawn mower?
Battery mowers are quieter, lighter and need no engine maintenance: perfect for small to medium gardens. Petrol remains the best choice for large areas and dense grass.
How often should you mow?
At the height of the growing season, about once a week. In very hot summers or in winter, growth slows down: mow less often.
Do you deliver throughout Morocco?
