Tall grass around the house, overgrown land, farm edges or an olive grove to clear: the brush cutter is the tool you need where a lawn mower cannot go. But between a petrol brush cutter, a battery brush cutter and a corded electric model, the choice is not obvious, and the price of a brush cutter in Morocco ranges from under 500 DH to over 7,000 DH. This Brico MIM guide helps you choose according to your area, the type of vegetation and how often you use it, along with the safety rules to follow.

Brush cutter or grass trimmer: what is the difference?
Both tools cut grass with a nylon line spinning at high speed, but they are not designed for the same job:
- The grass trimmer (or line trimmer) is light and used for finishing work: lawn edges, the base of walls, around trees and flower beds. It cuts soft grass, not brambles.
- The brush cutter is more powerful, with a longer, rigid shaft. Depending on the model, it takes a line head for tall grass and a blade or disc for brush and small woody shoots. It is the tool for land plots, farm surroundings and overgrown areas.
Petrol, battery or electric: the comparison
| Criterion | Petrol | Battery | Electric (corded) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power | High, tall grass and brush | Medium, grass and edges | Low to medium, edges |
| Run time | Unlimited (just refuel) | Limited by the battery | Limited by the cable |
| Noise and vibration | High | Low | Low |
| Maintenance | Fuel, air filter, spark plug | Very little | Very little |
| Ideal for | Land, farms, orchards, large areas | House or villa garden | Small garden near a socket |
| Price at Brico MIM | from 2,899 DH | from 499 DH (tool only) | from 495 DH |
Petrol brush cutter: for land and farms
The petrol brush cutter remains the benchmark as soon as the area gets large or the vegetation is dense: land to clear before construction, farm surroundings, ditches, olive groves. No cable, no waiting for a recharge: just refuel and keep going. The engine displacement (in cm³) gives a good idea of the available power.

- Efco DSH 4000 T: 40.2 cm³, 2 hp, 28 mm shaft, Ø 130 mm head. For land plots, verges and tall grass. From 4,499 DH.

Brico MIM tip: loop handle or bike handle? The loop handle is easier to manoeuvre around trees and obstacles. The bike handle with a double harness spreads the weight across your shoulders and is far more comfortable for several hours of work or when using a disc.
Battery brush cutter: for the garden
A battery brush cutter starts at the push of a button, makes almost no noise, does not smell of petrol and needs virtually no maintenance. It is perfect for a house or villa garden in Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier or elsewhere, for grass and edges. Its limits: run time, and less power when facing brush.
- TOTAL TGTLI20018 20 V: sold as a bare tool (no battery or charger), ideal if you already own batteries from the TOTAL 20 V range. From 499 DH.
- TOTAL TOSLI23024 pack: 20 V grass trimmer (300 mm cut) + blower, with 2 × 2.0 Ah batteries and a fast charger. From 995 DH.
- Gardena PowerTrim 30/18V P4A: kit with a 4 Ah battery, 30 cm cut, 2 mm line, PowerBoost mode and up to 40 min of run time. From 2,699 DH.
- Gardena SmallCut 25/18V P4A: ready-to-use kit for finishing work in small gardens. From 1,399 DH.
Small garden close to a socket? The TOTAL TG103512 electric brush cutter (350 W, 250 mm cut, telescopic handle) is the most affordable option, from 495 DH. To better understand battery ranges, read our guide to cordless garden tools.
How to choose: the key criteria
- Area and vegetation: garden and soft grass → battery or electric; land, tall grass and brush → petrol, 40 cm³ or more.
- Frequency of use: a few times a month → battery; several hours a week → petrol with bike handle and harness.
- Cutting attachment: line head for grass, blade or disc for brush, only if the machine is designed for it.
- Weight and comfort: check the weight, the handle and whether a harness is included, especially for long sessions.
- Batteries: stick to one range (for example Gardena 18 V or TOTAL 20 V) to share batteries with your other tools (battery tools).
Safety: the rules to follow
A brush cutter throws stones, debris and pieces of line at high speed. These rules apply to all models:
- Protective equipment: goggles or a visor, hearing protection (essential with a petrol engine), gloves, long trousers and sturdy closed shoes.
- Prepare the area: remove stones, wire, bottles and objects hidden in the grass before you start.
- Safety distance: keep children, passers-by and animals away; respect the distance stated in the manual and stop the machine if someone approaches.
- Protective guard always in place, and only use a blade or disc on a machine designed for it, with the appropriate guard.
- Engine off (or battery removed) before clearing the head, changing the line or cleaning.
- Fuel: refuel with the engine off and cooled down, away from any flame, without smoking, and store petrol in a suitable can out of children's reach.
- Heat and fire: in summer, dry grass catches fire easily; avoid putting a hot machine down on dry grass and work during the coolest hours.
Basic maintenance
- Petrol: use the right fuel and, for 2-stroke engines, the petrol-oil mix ratio given in the manual; clean the air filter regularly; check the spark plug; empty the tank before long-term storage. Our petrol engine maintenance tips also apply.
- Battery: store batteries in a dry place away from heat, never in the sun inside a car.
- All models: clean the head and guard after use, replace worn line with line of the recommended diameter, and check that blades are tight and not cracked.

Frequently asked questions
What is the price of a brush cutter in Morocco?
At Brico MIM, expect from 495 DH for an electric brush cutter, 499 DH for a battery model sold without a battery, around 995 DH for a complete grass trimmer pack with batteries, and from 2,899 DH to 7,259 DH for an Efco petrol brush cutter.
Is a battery brush cutter powerful enough for a plot of land?
For the grass and edges of a garden, yes. For overgrown land, brush or several hours of work, a petrol brush cutter is still the better choice.
Which brush cutter for a farm or an olive grove?
A petrol model of at least 40 cm³, ideally with a bike handle and double harness (STARK 4410 T, 8460) if you clear vegetation often. To harvest olives and clear brush with the same machine, the TOP STAR BG 438 4-in-1 is a practical option.
