With the heat of the Moroccan summer, the pool is often the heart of the villa. But warm, heavily used water quickly turns green if maintenance isn't regular. Here is the Brico MIM routine for a clean pool and clear water, whether you have a concrete pool or an above-ground pool.

Filtration: the heart of the pool
The pump draws in the water, passes it through the filter and then sends it back into the pool. Without good filtration, no product is enough to keep the water clear.
How many hours should you filter? A simple rule used by pool professionals: filtration time (in hours) = water temperature ÷ 2. Water at 28 °C therefore needs about 14 hours of filtration a day, preferably during the hottest hours.
Filtration equipment: Astral Victoria Plus 0.75 CV pump (11 m³/h), Victoria Plus 2 CV for large pools, or the Astral Pool X-pert-8 400 mm monobloc. For building a concrete pool: Astralpool main drain, 2″ square drain and electrical junction box.

pH and chlorine: the right settings

Test pH and chlorine at least twice a week in summer, and after every heavy use or storm. Always correct the pH first: a pH that is too high makes chlorine much less effective.
Cleaning the floor and walls
- By hand: a 45 cm pool vacuum head on a telescopic pole, connected to the vacuum point.
- Automatically: an electric robot cleans the floor, walls and sometimes the waterline on its own. Examples: Zodiac RT3200 or Zodiac RA 6700 iQ, controllable from a smartphone.
Above-ground pools: the easy option

The summer maintenance routine
- Every day: remove leaves and insects with a skimmer net, check that the filtration is running.
- Twice a week: test pH and chlorine, empty the skimmer baskets.
- Every week: run the vacuum or robot, brush the waterline, clean the filter according to its type.
- After a sandstorm: extended filtration and floor cleaning.
